ERF Wireless Acquires Seventh Wireless ISP
Waller, Texas, Wireless Broadband Network Expands ERF Wireless Footprint in Rapidly Growing Houston-to-Austin Corridor
LEAGUE CITY, Texas, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ERF Wireless (BULLETIN BOARD: ERFW) , the nation's leading provider of encrypted wireless networks for the regional banking industry, announced today that it has completed the acquisition of the wireless broadband assets of the Waller, Texas, area operations of VectorLink of Alpharetta, Georgia. The transaction closed on December 20, 2006, and included all of the current customers, network infrastructure equipment and towers of the VectorLink operational unit located northwest of Houston. The asset acquisition provides ERF Wireless access to a large geographic area adjacent to Houston and the surrounding communities of Waller and Hempstead along the strategically located U.S. 290 corridor between Houston and Austin. Its service area of approximately 300 square miles covers a population of more than 100,000 potential business and residential customers.
According to Dr. H. Dean Cubley, CEO of ERF Wireless, the acquisition of the Waller area assets of VectorLink is the seventh wireless network acquired by ERF Wireless over the past two years. "We'll integrate this network into our growing network system that already covers thousands of square miles from Central Texas to the Texas Gulf Coast and the Texas Panhandle," said Dr. Cubley. "And, we believe area banks, commercial businesses and residential customers will respond positively to the advantages of secure wireless broadband communications and that we'll achieve significant market share increases."
John A. Burns, COO of ERF Wireless, stated, "Our acquisition of the Waller Texas area operations of VectorLink fits well as a part of the company's overall business strategy to align an ERF Wireless WISP operating network around each of our BranchNet Banking customers so we can market additional ERF Wireless products to the bank's customer base. We already have Central Texas banking customers that will benefit from this expansion of our Central Texas WISP networks. Successful execution on this overall strategy is making it possible for ERF Wireless to achieve its strategic plan to capture a substantial share of the $9 billion secure wireless market for community, regional and nationwide financial institutions in the U.S."
